The XD Agency Celebrates 20 Years
This year marks the 20th anniversary of The XD Agency — quite the achievement for an independent agency that the founders never even intended to found.
“We never really set out to create a company,” founder and CEO Steve Shlansky said. “We all needed to leave the place we were working and decided that working together was probably a better bet then all going freelance.”
A better bet indeed.
In 1999, Shlansky and a few talented, spirited, and entrepreneurial friends — including Carol Fleming and Amy Williams, who are still with the agency today — founded an event production company, dubbed GO! Productions. The agency started at Shlansky’s dining room table, before quickly establishing itself with a client roster including the likes of Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz, Lowe’s, Kia, and Nintendo.
As the agency developed an increasingly strategic and creative approach to experiences and events — our production chops remain a point of pride; they’re just no longer alone — it became clear that our brand needed to align with our central mission.
As a result, GO! became The XD Agency in 2017. Our mission is to be the leader in experience design, with best-in-class strategy, creative, and production services combining to create transformative business value for clients.
But culture was always at the forefront, as it is today.
“We wanted to be that company that we never felt we needed to leave,” Shlansky said. “We wanted to work hard but also play hard. We wanted to be very good at what we do. And we wanted to be sincere and honest with ourselves, with our clients and with our suppliers. It makes me so proud that all of this remains today.”
And as we celebrate this humbling milestone in the life of our agency, we want to, above all, express our gratitude to those who have allowed us to be here.
