XDA Reimagines Advertising on Zoom
I was getting ready for work today, just like we all do these days – I stood up from bed, walked 6 feet, brushed my teeth, walked 6 feet, and put on a shirt that would look half decent on my day’s Zoom calls. I walked 6 more feet to my garage/office and…“$h^#!, this shirt has a stain.”
DING DING DING lightbulb moment…
“TIDE offers custom virtual conferencing filters, that mask imperfections, and brightens the appearance of your fabrics.” And the ideas just kept on coming…
“Downy offers custom virtual conference filters, that iron out your wrinkles.”
“Braun offers smooth shave filters, and better yet, new facial hair try-ons for your next virtual video chat.”
For the past 6 months, virtual conferencing has been a safe haven from the borage of advertising that intersects our lives at any given moment. Is that about to change? Maybe it’s too intrusive to imagine. But personally, I’d prefer to picture a day where I sign into a Zoom call, and ecstatically turn ON my video because I’m “dressed” in head to toe Gucci, with “my hair” styled by Jen Atkin, and “my makeup” done by Charlotte Tilbury. Man, that will be the day.
