Don’t Get Left On the Sidelines
With the Golden State Warriors winning the NBA championship and the Washington Capitals finally breaking through to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup, two of America’s mainstream sports leagues are heading into the offseason. (Apologies to soccer fans, but, no, I am not going to include the MLS as a mainstream sports league just yet. And I say that as a soccer lover and longtime soccer player. But I digress.)
We are heading into the Summer Sports Doldrums, with only Major League Baseball to capture our infatuated sports minds. Oh ok, the World Cup is keeping the world occupied, but it only comes around every four years — so, typically, we get to call this the Summer Sports Doldrums.
Can I please move on?
The Summer Sports Doldrums leaves all sports fans waiting for the big daddy of sports: the NFL. All eyes are locked on the action, even starting with the fairly meaningless preseason. And the Thursday night season opener — when Atlanta takes on the reigning champions from Philadelphia on September 6 — is already circled on everyone’s calendar.
By now, you’re saying, “What the hell does football have to do with The XD Agency, and why is this person ranting on and on about sports leagues?” I’ll tell you.
Super Bowl LIII will take place on Sunday, February 3, 2019. And it will take place in Atlanta, right in The XD Agency’s backyard.
For any brand that wants to be relevant, noticed, buzzed about, or savvy, this is big — and timely.
Now is the time to start thinking about and planning how you are going to bring your product to life on the biggest stage. From pop-ups, stunts, and guerrilla marketing to parties, ride and drives, mobile tours, how are you going to get recognized in Atlanta? What are you going to do to stand out? How are you going to leverage the estimated 125,000+ out-of-towners — not to mentions the influx of $400 million — coming to Atlanta?
According to a Rockport survey, more than half of visitors will be between the ages of 35 and 54, and 70 percent will have household incomes of more than $100,000, with 31 percent more than $200,000. Is this demographic of interest? (Uh, yes.)
The XD Agency is here to help strategize with your marketing and events teams to determine how best to make football’s biggest game work for you. We are here to create an experience that will engage and communicate with your consumers. To make an emotional connection between your audience and your brand.
